Skin that damages easily, ages easily.

The damage occurring to our skin is invisible. This video demonstrates the sun damage on people’s faces. Ultra violet light detects the damage and demonstrates how sun cream protects your skin.

If you think that you cannot get sun damage on a cloudy day, then you’re wrong! UVA rays are present AT ALL TIMES, and can penetrate through the clouds! They contribute towards skin ageing, and penetrate much deeper into the skin, damaging the cells beneath. Your skin may look younger and healthier when it is tanned, but the  reality is it creates irreversible skin damage. This damage is not evident immediately but in 10, 20 years’ time.

How to protect yourself:

Since the sun’s rays can cause everything from skin aging to skin cancer there are many reasons to protect yourself from the sun. A safe way to get a tan is to apply sunscreen that protects you against UVA and UVB rays. Look for a broad spectrum sun cream or one that states it protects against UVA and UVB rays. It is also vital to understand how much protection your sun cream is giving you. If you are applying SPF 15 you can in theory stay exposed for 15x longer than without, as long as you apply enough sun cream at first, and re-apply it every 2 hours!

Remember, the rays are always present so DO NOT let the weather decide if you need sun cream. The answer is you ALWAYS do come rain or shine :).
